Since 1982, MVLP has helped thousands of underserved Mississippians gain access to attorneys and courts.

We would like to thank all of the volunteers who donate their time and talents to help improve the lives of our clients and the communities we serve throughout Mississippi.

Mississippi Settlement Assistance Program

The Mississippi Settlement Assistance Program (MSAP) is a joint collaboration between the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project (MVLP) and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi. The purpose of the program is to provide free legal assistance to low-income pro se litigants in civil matters filed in the United States District Court. Specifically, the program will provide assistance for Magistrate Judge-led settlement conferences, only.

Upcoming Pro Se Legal Clinics

The clinics are designed to assist self-represented litigants in preparing to go to court. Clinic participants are paired with dedicated and professional pro bono attorneys, many who have their own practices around the state or work for larger firms and corporations. MS.FreeLegalAnswers.Org

MVLP and the Mississippi Access to Justice Commission have launched Mississippi Free Legal Answers, an online civil legal help web-site to assist Mississippi’s low-income citizens. This free website answers a specific question about the user’s civil legal issue. The site will not answer criminal law questions. See the flyer below for more information or visit ms.freelegalanswers.org.
