Self-Representation

In 2019, MVLP helped 480 individuals represent themselves in court. With self-representation, clients are placed with attorneys who provide legal advice, drafted pleadings, and instructions on how to represent themselves in court. The attorney does not enter an appearance on behalf of the client. The client goes to Court on his/her own.

Through limited representation clinics, clients who are successfully screened for eligibility, are placed with attorneys who provide legal advice, drafted pleadings, and instructions to the client on how to represent themselves in court. The attorney does not enter an appearance on behalf of the client, and no courtroom representation is provided by the attorney.

Types of Cases:

  • Irreconcilable Differences Divorces

  • Uncontested Guardianships

  • Advance Healthcare Directives/Power of Attorneys/Simple Wills
